Los trabajadores de la planta El Balcón después de muchos atropellos deciden tomar la planta y conducirla bajo control obrero.
En
1994 las comunidades de San Juan de Lagunillas y aledañas del municipio
Sucre del estado Mérida, comenzaron la lucha por el cierre del botadero
de basura de El Balcón, que representaba una fuente de contaminación
ambiental.
Después de muchas luchas, que implicaban el cierre del botadero y el
colapso de la basura en las comunidades de la ciudad de Mérida y otras
cercanas, lograron que las alcaldías de los municipios Rangel
(Mucuchies), Santos Marquina ( Tabay), Libertador (Mérida), Campo Elías
(Ejido), y Sucre (Lagunillas), constituyera una Mancomunidad de
alcaldías, figura jurídica contemplada en la Ley de Régimen Municipal.
A raíz de ello y con la presentación de un proyecto por la gobernación
del estado se logra construir una planta de clasificación de desechos
sólidos con un nuevo botadero de basura, en un nuevo lugar.
Esta Mancomunidad, con un presupuesto de más de 10 millardos de
bolívares, construye una planta de clasificación y botadero de basura.
Dándole a una empresa privada-Sincreba-, la administración de dicha
planta. La empresa Sincreba contrata a los trabajadores independientes
que trabajaban en el botadero El Balcón y los mantiene en un régimen de
explotación miserable. Incluso después de más de un año de trabajo
Sincreba obliga a los trabajadores a conformar una cooperativa- La Rosa
Mística- e impone una directiva que traiciona a los trabajadores. La
empresa ni siquiera le paga a los trabajadores las prestaciones
correspondientes al tiempo trabajado.
Ayer sábado los trabajadores de la planta, reunidos en su sindicato
SINTRAPLAN, decidieron, ante los atropellos patronales tomar
directamente el funcionamiento de la planta de desechos sin
participación de los patronos. Con una decisión inteligente los
trabajadores tomaron la planta pero para hacerla funcionar sin los
patronos explotadores; así no perjudican a las comunidades y demuestran
que son ellos los que permiten que la planta funcione. Los alcaldes
tendrán que decidir si permiten que la empresa Sincreba siga sobre
explotando a los trabajadores o cumplen con el mandato presidencial de
la cogestión de los servicios.
Los trabajadores y su sindicato, representado legalmente por Sonia
Mejías, Edgar Campos, Yaneth garcía, Arturo Carmona, Luis Carmona, José
Zerpa, Rosalía Guerrero y abogado Cesar Ninamanco, han recibido apoyo
de una serie de sindicatos del estado y recibirán mañana lunes el apoyo
de los estudiantes.
